The Friendly Fridge BX is a community refrigerator initiative grounded in the principals of mutual aid. The first in the Bronx, this community fridge is located on the sidewalk on Broadway at 242nd Street underneath the last stop of the #1 train.

The Bronx Community Foundation is the first and only community Foundation in The Bronx. We support, work alongside, and uplift organizations already doing great work in The Bronx! Our Food Sovereignty Network supports existing organization in The Bronx including nonprofits, grassroots organizations, and/or small businesses continue to fight food insecurity in our community.

City Harvest is NYC’s first and largest food rescue organization, helping to feed millions of New Yorkers each year. We rescue nutritious food and deliver it, free of charge, to hundreds of soup kitchens and food pantries across the city.

This map was initially developed in July 2020 to help keep track of the community fridges started by mutual aid groups.

Over the last decade, U.S. Hunger has activated more than 800,000 volunteers to distribute over 150 million meals across the globe. We address hunger by engaging volunteers, educating on the root causes of food insecurity, and creating access to nutritious meals for low-income families and individuals.
